Michael Jordan and Chinese Trade Marks

Michael Jordan and Chinese Trade Marks

So, you are manufacturing or selling a product in China, and you want to know how to protect yourself?

Just do one thing. Trade marks. China is a first to file country. That means generally that whoever files a trade mark in China first will be the owner of that mark. Even if you have been manufacturing your product in China for the last 3 years, if someone applies to register your brand before you do, then that person gets it. Then they can prevent you from using your mark in China, or exporting your goods from China.

Michael Jordan was locked in a trade mark dispute for nearly 5 years in China. Don’t be like Michael Jordan. Protect your brand in China.
