Apple has applied to register the term "BEDDIT" in Hong Kong covering goods and services in 5 Classes, such as electronic sensors that measure and track sleep quality, respiration, body movement and heart rate. The application also covers medical research, bedroom furniture and bed linen, amongst other things. Apple acquired "Beddit" (a sleep tracking application) earlier this year. With poor sleep affecting a huge proportion of the population, and the growing awareness of how sleeping habits affect health, this is an interesting direction for Apple. Lucy Meadley, Intermark IP. During 2016, the Russian Intellectual Property Office renewed a number of Trump trade marks - including 4 trade marks on the day of the US election. This is despite the fact that Donald Trump claims he has no business interests in Russia. The fact that Trump renewed his trade marks in Russia appears to contradict Trump's insistence that he has no business interest in Russia. However, since Trump took office his company has renewed not only Russian trade marks, but also a large number of marks in both Mexico and China. Both countries were targeted during Trump's campaign as being threats to US business. The Trump Organisation currently has 157 pending trade mark applications world-wide.
